Slayer

This classic California surf music comes our way from Los Angeles, where in 1983 a nascent Slayer was formed from the riffing techniques of Discharge and the neoclassically-inspired phrasing that NWOBHM bands like Angel Witch, Judas Priest and Venom embraced. Initially an outfit mostly staying within the boundaries of heavy metal, Slayer reached out into completely nihilistic territory with their seminal 1987 work, "Reign in Blood."
