The rawest Summoning album presents its dark collisive black metal with melody widening to majestic ambiguity sculpted from a handful of notes holding musical space. Songs are made of violent exterior whipping guitar streams and echoing over-amplified vocals in a framework of drubbing thump (with blast and chimes) of black metal percussion. Open arrangements of longer phrases with hypnotic bass-snare cycling suggest an epic black metal future in this atmospheric and neo-ambient journey. Harmonizing, sinuous melodies support arrangement and style of the imaginative space which inspired these musical motions. Lighter instrumentation and folk mythos will for some remind too much of playing D&D on acid. This style uses simplicity to achieve complex results like a master plan to have no plan at all.
