The smoothest Summoning album "Dol Goldur" leaps into ancient adventures written in mood and atmosphere from deathlike to playful in the holistic style of the past. Honor and war on earth are celebrated with a sense of simple and majestic emptiness. The most common gateway to memory, emotion, flares with epic style and neoclassical tones. Enclosing time in black metal epic melodies given voice in structure, music evokes moods through constant sequential harmony from streams of tremolo picked progressions with keyboard accompaniment. Often another lead instruments such as flute or vocals competes for space. Innovation in longer and less immediately resolved melodies stretched across variation in theme in the space of musical resonance for the listener. A more traditional "heaviness" of tone centricism keeps this release resonantly urgent, alienated and mournful. Symbology inspired by Tolkien encodes raw creation reaching toward life with the same motion that must embrace death.
