Of the two-finger death metal variety, this album adapts the more abstract of European speed metal to the simpler and less harmonized death standards, causing an outpouring of rumbling simple riffs in progression to a melodic revelation and then return to nothingness. Burbling visceral vocals shaped around a chant and shout at the same time are pace instruments for roaring and sawing guitars. Songs reach length and complexity to state their ideas and conclude them naturally, suspending the listener in motion and glimpses of melody while keeping aggression maximum. Similar to the Swedish metal of the same era, this album was part of a movement toward greater significance to concept and its representation in the music and appearance presented by the band.
