Seemingly going backward in style, Godflesh approximate the post-pop EBM-influenced sound of Killing Joke placed squarely in the midst of a hard rock riffingstyling event, creating something that is rock with industrial touches and heavy metal flair. While this isn't poorly done and compares to Fudge Tunnel or later Prong, it is not where Godflesh could put their full hearts apparently as it is technically and artistically behind, failing to utilize the best skills Godflesh do have and indulging heavily in the skills that easily found in the popular music spectrum. Beats are friendlier, and less machinelike, and riffs stay within mostly consonant territory and use familiar chord progressions. Consistency dwarfs the uniqueness of experience. As a result, this album is probably one of the least powerful Godflesh albums.
