In the most visceral turbulence found in the new death metal genre, Autopsy made the only legitimate "gore metal" for many years with these sardonic interpretations of heavy metal as a combination of ugly textures and sickeningly dense chording. Sagging regurgitated vocals spew decomposition across pounding beats and sawing guitars, knowing when to lead songs into plodding churn and when to claw to the surface for air. Disgusting in the literal sense of the word, Autopsy inspired generations of metal and grindcore.
