Originally one of the first bands to awaken and create something of promise after the brilliant first wave of black metal fell away, Ancient from Norway produced an album and an EP that were brilliant and then started to emulate more mainstream bands like Cradle of Filth, losing their core audience but gaining in popularity. Never short on musical talent, they gave credit to the style more than the other way around, but in recent years seem to have faded away.
