The big lie versus the obvious need

In Germany, as in other developed countries, an aging population requires immigrants for economic survival. - CSM

So let me get this straight:

The best way to save the planet is to make sure our lifestyles are sustainable. This means fewer people and less wealth.

But,

We're supposed to import more people, who want our opulent lifestyles, to replace those who are departing.

Does anyone else see a LOL moment in this one?
