The problem with gifted children
25 11 11 - 12:21
Familiar refrain:
People with above-average aptitudes â the ones we recognize as being especially clever, creative, insightful, or otherwise accomplished â often judge their abilities not only more harshly, but fundamentally differently, than others do (particularly in Western cultures). Gifted children grow up to be more vulnerable, and less confident, even when they should be the most confident people in the room. Understanding why this happens is the first step to righting a tragic wrong. And to do that, we need to take a step back in time. - Harvard Business Review
Equality means favoring the underdog at the expense of others.

Equality: accepting and glorifying idiots and stupididty
Underdog: stupid kids
Others: smart kids
Smart kids weren't always less confident than their stupid peers. They are now because they live in a culture that accepts idiocy.
I think that's the gist of what he's saying. Squirm - 26-11-’11 12:42
