This book should be rolling out in English by the beginning of next year, and may already be available in Europe or to selected reviewers. If it follows the pattern established in other Houellebecq books, it will be an exploration of the dark underside to modern society. Under the glitz and technology, a neurotic wasteland of doubt and existential confusion accompanies the fall of a great empire. With humor, sadness and a poetic insight into what people desire (as opposed to what they think they desire) his books show us a revealed side of the dying West that could be turned around toward something more beautiful, joyful and mentally clear. For many of us, his books inspire us to want to achieve that state.
