It followed from the special theory of relativity that mass and energy are both but different manifestations of the same thing â a somewhat unfamiliar conception for the average mind. - Albert Einstein, in a 1948 film called âAtomic Physicsâ [AEAP]

A wannabe grand unification theory of politics:
But most relevant for present purposes is the authorsâ conclusion that power makes people more likely to focus on potential reward (rather than potential threat), to be impulsive and make snap judgments (rather than think things through carefully), and to pay less attention to what others perceive, think, and feel. - Ottawa Citizen
Observe pattern, search for correlation, find trendy theory that unites the two. Now you've created FACT in the eyes of most of these egalitarian incompetents.
In reality however, being in power in a democratic time means that every single interest group or person near you will be firing off ideas and facts at you constantly. You win by filtering out the feelings, perceptions and thoughts of others and focusing on the biggest patterns.
We could blame power for this. Or be honest and say that power requires you cut out 99% of what people are thinking, because that stuff is off-topic and the antithesis of power as a result.

It has often amazed me how liberals will congregate and meme-repeat certain dogmas in a Soviet style. It is as if they are using overlapping confirmation biases to re-affirm what they "believe." The less realistic the dogma, the more this intensifies. Here's one possible reason why:
Far-fetched tales of West African riches strike most as comical. Our analysis suggests that is an advantage to the attacker, not a disadvantage. Since his attack has a low density of victims the Nigerian scammer has an over-riding need to reduce false positives. By sending an email that repels all but the most gullible the scammer gets the most promising marks to self-select, and tilts the true to false positive ratio in his favor. - Microsoft Research
The goal of liberal dogma is to build a crowd, not attract everyone
(although liberals claim otherwise). Thus their first filter is to separate the credulous, isolate them and confuse them, and force them into the Pod People by making them repeat insane and unrealistic stuff until they believe it. But the first step is finding likely victims.

On the various music blogs and writings associated with this site, we have always argued that musical quality can be measured objectively, while affinity for specific isolated traits can be measured subjectively. For proof of this, we have always pointed out that most music, if displayed on a scatter diagram, would show remarkable musical similarity and that the quality occurs in those that deviate from this mediocre norm.
Fortunately, someone is at work making that scatter diagram

From a goofy and unlikely source:
Creativity killer profile 6: the Narrow-minded Mob
With a stubborn and often headstrong approach, killers fitting the narrow-minded profile ensure their dupes remain trapped in their standard, familiar patterns of behavior. Victims are unwitting casualties of their own habitual ways of thinking and behaving. Narrow-mindedness leads to convergent thinking, and the full creative process requires divergent thinking before a specific focus is chosen. Human thought patterns tend to slip into these standard channels, or set ways of thinking, if they are not regularly challenged. The brain seeks to organize its thoughts--often in response to incoming information--into temporarily stable states that succeed each other to give a sequence. When a sequence or pattern is repeated, it becomes a thought-pattern or mindset that channels future thoughts more easily along the same path. It thus becomes a habitual standard way of looking at a situation or problem. Blinkered expertise, prejudice and groupthink are all examples of the way narrow-mindedness can manifest itself.
To deal with this killer:
Embrace "creative innocence"--try putting aside any notions of expertise, recognize any biases or prejudices you may have developed, and approach a situation as a child would instead. - Fast Co.

A University of California-based team of researchers has isolated some of the ways in which distorted and jarring music is so evocative, and they believe that the mechanisms are closely related to distress calls in animals.
They report their findings in the latest issue of the peer-reviewed scientific journal Biology Letters, which publishes online June 12.
'Music that shares aural characteristics with the vocalizations of distressed animals captures human attention and is uniquely arousing,' said Daniel Blumstein, one of the study's authors and chair of the UCLA Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. - Daily Fail
Makes sense: regression to our lowest impulses means everyone is accepted. No wonder it's so popular.

Interview with Jeremy Christner, owner of the publisher Lux Ferous and explorer of gnostic ideas.
I believe, contrary to the âorthodoxâ Gnostics, that Jesus was a redundant figure. The one who truly was our key to Gnosis was the Serpent. There was no need for Christ â the damage to the Demiurge had already been done in Eden, and the Gnostic current was already well under way by the time of Christ. I refer to myself as an Ophite Gnostic, which I see as interchangeable with the term Gnostic Luciferian or Luciferian Gnostic. The Ophites were a sect whose faith was born at the moment when the Serpent delivered us from eternal servitude. Ophitism is the worship of the Serpent of Eden, the name being derived from the Greek Ophis, serpent. Some scholars argue that the Ophites predated Christianity (note: the reality of pre-Christian Gnosticism is heavily debated), thus making them more akin to what one may call inverted Judaism, as the Ophite concept of what is holy, and what is unholy, is opposite that of their parent religion.

Scepticism towards religious authorities may be a useful turn of mind. But what of those who speak for humanity, who represent themselves as the special representatives of the species and claim the authority of science for their pronouncements regarding the human good? - Literary Review
I think religion is an attitude to any specific topic. E.g. "I believe this, therefore all data must conform to my personal viewpoint." I see it most clearly in the democratic egalitarians.

Researchers agree that our immediate ancestors, the upright walking apes, arose in Africa. But the discovery of a new primate that lived about 37 million years ago in the ancient swamplands of Myanmar bolsters the idea that the deep primate family tree that gave rise to humans is rooted in Asia. If true, the discovery suggests that the ancestors of all monkeys, apes, and humansâknown as the anthropoidsâarose in Asia and made the arduous journey to the island continent of Africa almost 40 million years ago. - AAAS Science
Interesting. Africa could be a kind of reflector of life, creating radical diversity that then goes out and is absorbed by other parts of the species.

The more prosperous a population becomes, the more it ceases to breed, which corresponds to its helping less prosperous populations to become halfway prosperous, a point at which they still breed recklessly:
The labor demonstrators, now an almost-daily occurrence in Madrid and other economically-devastated southern European cities lambast austerity and budget cuts as the primary cause for their current national crisis. But longer-term, the biggest threat to the European Union has less to do with government policy than what isâor is notâhappening in the bedroom.
In particular, southern Europeâs economic disaster is both reflected â and is largely caused by â a demographic decline that, if not soon reversed, all but guarantees the continentâs continued slide. For decades, the wealthier countries of the northern countries â notably Germany â have offset very low fertility rates and declining domestic demand by attracting migrants from other countries, notably from eastern and southern Europe, and building highly productive export oriented economies. - Forbes
It requires a strong culture to keep itself together, and not rely on the easy solution of importing replacements.
