David Cameron's Blind Spot on Climate Change

David Cameron recently made a statement concerning the impact of climate change on agriculture across the world. He said, ‘Changes in peoples diets combined with the impact of climate change we are facing are putting pressure on world food supplies.’ I presume by ‘change in peoples diets’, means in this case, the increase in consumption of meat by both the Chinese and Indians brought about by increasing industrialisation and the corresponding increase in agricultural production. Addressing the National Farmers Union conference in London, he said, ‘people in China and India were eating more meat. So, more grain was needed’. Indeed as a consequence more land for cattle also is needed.
It is well known that intensive farming of livestock is synonymous with the western lifestyle of higher and higher standards of living and so increased consuming and dependence on global food. Further, he points out that. ‘the development of Bio-fuels that also require grain are adding to the demand for grain.’

He said that ‘we face the potential prospect that the abundance of food that we take for granted will come to a crashing end’.

However his main concern is that the UK should become less dependent on global import of food, pointing out that self – sufficiency in the UK has dropped 60% from 1996. This is the consequence of greater dependence on cheaper food from the rest of the world and of course the greater profits that go with it. It is true that climate change will even affect this country so how he thinks that we could be ‘self – sufficient’ given the effects of global warming I don’t know. We have to contend with the ever increasing population here produced by unofficially unlimited immigration and the immigrant high birth rate. An abundance of food is needed to support such unlimited reproduction - more than can be grown on our decreasing agricultural land. How could we ‘self - support’ with such a population? Such a huge population is in part the reason for the using up of resources that contribute to the production of greenhouse gasses. It is the rasion de etre of seeking to live in our country that freedom exists to pursue a higher standard of living than that they are escaping from.

Mr Cameron, you leave out one key unspeakable issue and that is that of overpopulation. We know that there has to be a certain parcel of land for each person in order to keep them alive throughout their life. We know that the world population is growing exponentially and indeed we know that unlimited immigration into this country and elsewhere in Europe will take us way over acceptable limits in an already densely overpopulated country. This overpopualtion as has been promoted and welcomed by many politicians and, as we know, promoted through EEC policies by way of promoting equality of right to food, shelter for the poor of the world and freedom of movement to seek personal fortunes and to search for higher and higher standard of living ad infinitum.


Mr Cameron, there certainly will be famine, starvation and social unrest as a consequence of the impact of global warming on agriculture and the shortage of food brought about by that. Yet it is through a particular way of thinking and the way of life and lifestyles that are promoted by industrial capitalism for the sake of profit and power of a few across the world, that will bring destruction and famine upon us. Key in this is the excessive world population. To quote Julius Evola from his book Revolt Against The Modern World ;

“There are echoes of here of the Roman oracle that announced that the era of the destruction of the limits erected against human greed will end with the saeculum or the “end of
the world”.”
