The shoes that missed are a big hit
30 12 08 - 09:19Outgoing President, George Bush (none other) famously dodged the flying footwear, which he informed the press was "size 10". But now this particular model of the shoes is flying off the shelves of Baydan Ayakkabicilik San. & Tic, increasing the chance of a further attempt at bipedal leather humilation.
It is only a matter of time until it occurs to the authorities that all manner of footwear may be aimed at the heads of the great and the good, with the possible exception of slippers, at which point we can expect that they will be banned as threats to our freedom. No sneaking sneakers into presidential press conferences!
As it is, what may have originally seemed to be somewhat failed product placement has resulted in financial success for the Turkish shoe manufacturer, who is thinking of further cashing in with some advertising. This over-confidence is the likely result of Obama's plans to close Gitmo. Could other products find themselves similarly marketed? Are egg companies beating themselves up for not making more lucrative publicity of the times when their items have actually made contact with famous faces?
