04 06 08 - 04:02 IMMIGRANTS are behind a surge in crime, one of the country’s top officers warned yesterday.

Cambridgeshire Chief Constable Julie Spence said three nationalities were causing the biggest problems for her beleaguered force.

Rises in assaults and knife crime were worst among Poles, Lithuanians and Iraqi Kurds, she told MPs. And the effect of mass migration under Labour had had an "immense" impact on police resources.
