Any other fans of him in here? I've only heard the Lord of the Rings soundtracks but they really are something. Those scores are definitely a good place start for someone new to classical (that's what got me into it, at least).
Thoughts?

I'm a fan as well, and I agree that he is a good starting point for classical music. Also, James Horner isn't a bad one to start with.
