A pro looking comp tape of underground metal bands, mostly from the Edmonton, Alberta area. Side A starts with DISCIPLES OF POWER "Wings Of Suicide" (1996 CD "Mechanikill") has a spacey, robotic feel (ie. Voi Vod's Dimension Hatross/ Nothingface) with the heaviness of Slayer. Deathy singing reminds me of Lips from Anvil.
AXIS OF ADVANCE "Structural Interpretation Via Superflous Union" (1999 cd "Landline") starts off slow, doomy and deadly before bursting and blasting. Catchy thrashy black metal. Much more concise and enjoyable than their previous band Sacramentary Abolishment (whose main fault was the horrible drum mix).
LESION "Life is Shit" (previously unreleased). With a great title like that the riffs had better be heavy! Clear sound. If the drums were pumped up a wee bit in the mix, this would rival Unleashed. Deep vocals and smoking guitar solo.
DRAUMVAKZEPH "Avalanche/Sxergates Crosng". Blackish grindcore. Fuck, haven't heard screams like this since Pedophile's demo back in the late 80s! I thought they broke up, but then I seen in Eternal Frost #11( I think), that they're doing a split with Lust.
LUST "Venomous Hatred" (prev. unreleased. recorded same time as the Holocaust Hell SlutWhore Demo#2, 07/99) What can you say? One of Canada's loudest, noisiest, scariest, dangerous black metal bands. Only for the few and proud into Beherit and Blasphemy with the most original vocals you'll hear in awhile. If for nothing else, you have to respect Sziabolos Diabolus for punching out drunken panhandling bitches who can't take no for an answer!

Side B sees pretty sharp and fast riffing by WITCHBLADE "Sigil of the Swordbearer" before the main evil, stalking riff that gets melodic. Good shit like old Satryricon or maybe Carpathian Forest.
THORAZINE "Rapid Descration" (1999 cd "Seed the Black Sky"). A death metal band from Canada? And fast? And heavy? If you listen to Entombed, Sinister, Carcass, Morbid Angel, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse you'll dig them.
RITES OF THY DEGRINGOLADE "Who Hath Employed The Labyrinth of Utter Turmoil" (1999 self-titled cassette). Starts off ultra-doomy and slow like Thergothon then shifts into uptempo death/ black metal with blast beat parts. By the way, degringolade is some sort of torture device I'm told, not gringo lemonade as I was guessing.
Last band OUROBOROS "The Broken Seals of Wrath" (Prev.unreleased) sounds as no frills, basement, muffled as Lust. I think Ouroboros will be considered cult metal too, as the vocals are crazy and tortured, and the drumming is as frenetic as the guitar. Crazy, crazy stuf! (And after I wrote this review I learned at least one Lust member is in the band. I should have known!)
