The human mind is intricate enough to be satisfied by very different kinds of music. This should be obvious. Also, there is no absolute model which characterizes our relationship to the universe. The stars permit “strange forms” to act as signposts.

Laughter has come as a huge evolutionary advantage to man, allowing him to shield his psyche against events that would otherwise paralyze him. Frivolousness also has its place. The king who burns his treasures makes a statement about the value of a mere object. And so in frivolousness there is profundity, and in laughter there is power.

Bathos does not take itself as seriously as you do, perhaps you do not know how to laugh naturally. Perhaps life has been too hard on you.

It is very easy to pass off every release as “lacking in content”. And the more cds you review, the easier it becomes.

Would you criticize a platypus for lacking content? Or saying that it lacks the beauty of the bear? You wouldn’t do that because it is an object in and of itself, and does not need to justify its existence to anyone at all.

You say that Bathos repeats the “pattern for everything gone wrong in this world.”
But I don’t understand what you mean.
It never occurred to me that the universe could in anyway be “wrong”.

If you don’t like the Sahara, you don’t tell your family that it is wrong.

Whatever Aarni are attempting to do, they in the very least are an interesting band. And yes, they are clever, but I fail to see how being clever is in any way a detriment.

If you think that being clever has no place in “profound music”, then I beg that you listen to the Goldberg Variations. Of course, Bach is a genius, in addition to being clever.

Perhaps it is genius you are looking for.
Then you should look into formats more conducive to it.

Anyway, not everything that a man must utter throughout his life MUST be genius.

If he insisted on only genius, he would say nothing, and he would create nothing.
And then an expression of genius would be an impossibility.

If you feel that way, I suggest you sever your tongue. But I hope you don’t feel that way.
