this is the end

an end is where one intends to end up; one's goal, or the final step before one's goal

we can roughly characterize ideology into ends and means, for the purposes of this discussion

ends are what our values hope to create; an example would be, "my values include working hard on one's farm, so that someday my children can have fresh zucchini every day."

means are the methods, techniques, philosophies, technologies and behaviors we use to achieve them. "to that end, i've tilled a field after removing rocks and trees, and am planting zucchini from this wild patch i found in southern italy."

the question for ends becomes, what do you value?
