aesthetics

there's an old cliché that goes: "beauty is form following function."

we tend to like to separate beauty from function, and keep it in a special place, as if it were arbitrary.

yet all of the attributes that make something beautiful are relative to its design, and to the efficiency and grace of that design.

something which is unsubtle and crude looks unbeautiful to us.

the beautiful is the evolved, the refined, the abstracted.
